La Maison de Bernarda Alba
Federico García Lorca, Thibaud Croisy
A house in Andalusia, an authoritarian mother, five daughters to marry off, and all around the Francoist countryside, threatening. Lorca wrote here one of the only major plays whose characters are all women. Thibaud Croisy delivers a new translation and a staging with ten performers: he dissects the effects of withdrawal on language, and makes audible everything that a closed-door world holds of desire, violence, and thirst for freedom.

Thibaud Croisy
Thibaud Croisy writes and directs. His works depict bodies that are constrained or confined, struggling to win their freedom—and undoubtedly their very lives as well. He directed a documentary film on the incarceration of adolescents in juvenile detention centers (Quartier mineur) and writes regularly for magazines and publishers. His previous play, L’Homosexuel ou la difficulté de s’exprimer by Copi, was presented at the TCi in October 2022.
