Michel Portal, clarinettiste et saxophoniste, et Bernard Lubat, batteur, travaillent en duo depuis de nombreuses années.
Ces jazzmen de génie, improvisateurs hors pair, inventent à deux une musique tour à tour profonde, dynamique, drôle et faite de trouvailles toujours inattendues. L’an passé, pour un concert au festival de Porquerolles, ils se sont associés à Hamid Drake, batteur de choc et de Chicago, pour un set qui fut une telle alchimie heureuse qu’ils ont décidé, pour notre plaisir, de recommencer l’expérience. Clarinettist and saxophonist Michel Portal, and drummer Bernard Lubat have been playing together for years – as jazzmen of genius, and unrivalled improvisers. Together, they make music that is by turns profound, dynamic and comic, fueled by constant, unexpected borrowings. In 2014, they joined forces with Chicago’s ‘shock’ drummer Hamid Drake for a set at the Festival de Porquerolles. The result was a performance of unmatched alchemy, an experience they have chosen to revisit, for our delight, here in Paris.
