Silence
Lucie Antunes and Mathilde Monnier
The first collaboration between composer Lucie Antunes and choreographer Mathilde Monnier, Silence is a choreographed concert —or a sonic choreography, take your pick. Four live musicians, seven performers, and between them one shared thing: trance, the rhythm that catches the mind in its nets, the states where time suspends. Silence is not the absence of sound; it is what we listen to when we stop hearing. A shamanic journey to kick off Transforme festival.
Biographie(s)
Lucie Antunes and Mathilde Monnier
As a composer, drummer, and performer, Lucie Antunes explores the boundaries between percussion, electronic music, and vocals. In 2013, she made her breakthrough alongside Moodoïd, then went on to perform with Aquaserge, Yuksek, and Susheela Raman. In 2019, she composed Sergeï, her debut album, which was adapted for the stage with the Scale collective (TCi, March 2022). In 2025, with the group Draga, she set to music Les Guérillères, Monique Wittig’s epic work.
Since 1984, Mathilde Monnier has been one of the leading voices in contemporary dance. She has created more than 50 works presented internationally and served as director of the Centre national de la danse in Pantin (2014–2019). Her latest creations—Please Please Please (2019, with La Ribot and Tiago Rodrigues), Records (TCi, March 2022), and Black Lights (TCi, Nov. 2023)—continue to expand the boundaries of dance into new realms.
